Siding and Exterior Cladding
The exterior of the house is its raincoat. We install cladding as a drained and ventilated system so it lasts on the coast.
Cladding does two jobs: it gives the house its look, and it is the outer layer of a system that has to shed water. On the wet coast that second job matters more. We manage siding and cladding in fibre cement, wood, vinyl, metal and stucco, and we install them over a drained and ventilated cavity (a rainscreen) where the wall assembly and the building code call for it.
Order matters. The weather barrier, window and door flashing, and cladding all have to be installed in sequence, with each layer lapped so water always runs outward. We schedule the envelope trades together so no layer is covered before it is inspected.
Trim, soffits, fascia and paint or stain finishes are part of the same scope, so the exterior is delivered complete and consistent.
